Meet Matheus Rosario Dos Santos
Massage Therapist
Fluent in Portuguese
Mattie’s path into massage therapy wasn’t something he originally planned. The idea first came after meeting a friend who was already working in the industry. Seeing how fulfilled, balanced, and passionate they were about their work inspired him to explore the profession for himself and it quickly became something he connected with deeply.
He went on to study at Evolve College in Launceston, where one particular moment confirmed he had chosen the right path. After practicing a massage session with a classmate during training, they returned the following day with encouraging feedback and told him he would make an excellent massage therapist.
“I honestly teared up a little,” shares Mattie.
That sense of purpose has stayed with him ever since.
Originally from Salvador in the Northeast of Brazil, Mattie brings a warmth and openness that clients often notice straight away. He describes it as a very Brazilian quality – a genuine love of connecting with people and helping others feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for from the moment they arrive.
A Holistic View of Health
Mattie’s perspective on health has been shaped by personal experience as much as professional training. After facing his own health challenges and receiving a prediabetes diagnosis, he developed a much deeper appreciation for how connected physical, emotional, and overall wellbeing can be.
That experience reinforced his belief in leading by example and caring for his own wellbeing so he can show up fully for the people he works with. He believes massage therapy requires not only technical knowledge, but also balance, self-awareness, and compassion.
Mattie enjoys helping people slow down, feel more comfortable in their bodies, and create space to reconnect with their wellbeing in a realistic and supportive way.
Before becoming a massage therapist, Mattie worked as a lawyer in Brazil and was the second of five siblings to earn a university degree. He considers himself a lifelong learner and is always looking for opportunities to continue growing his knowledge and skills as a therapist.
Life Outside the Clinic
Outside the clinic, Mattie can usually be found foraging, exploring one of Tasmania’s many walking tracks, tending to his garden, or occasionally switching off with a video game. Gardening, in particular, is something he feels deeply passionate about. He loves being connected to nature and finds quiet satisfaction in watching things grow and change over time.
Mattie’s family still lives in Salvador, where they have lived for generations. He is proud of his African heritage and the rich culture of Northeast Brazil. Raised in a close-knit family by parents who worked as bakers, he describes his upbringing as simple but full of warmth, conversation, good food, and connection.
Although living far from family can sometimes be emotional, they remain very close through regular video calls and ongoing support across the distance.
